Turkey will receive F-16 aircraft from the US in the near future.
In consultation with Congress, Washington will proceed with the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, according to national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
The choice was made one day after Ankara approved Sweden's application to join NATO.
A $20 billion purchase of Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters and roughly 80 modernization kits for its existing aircraft was sought by Turkey in October 2021, which had been the primary obstacle standing in Sweden's way of joining the alliance.
